The Judiciary held a "Swearing In Ceremony" on Thursday, the 7th of April 2022 for newly appointed Single Magistrates, Ms Tewiia Bwani and Ms Keetia Tooti. These new Magistrates now join an exclusive group of Single Magistrates on Kiribati who can hear and preside over all types of cases including Land cases, Criminal cases and Civil matters.
The Oaths taken by these New Magistrates were witnessed by the Chief Magistrate Mr Aomoro Amten. Also in attendance was the Chief Registrar, Deputy Chief Registrar, Senior Registrar, Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, fellow Magistrates and Senior Court Clerk (who also led the procession)

The Judiciary is pleased to welcome the newest members of its team who will assist and facilitate the Judiciary in serving Justice to all Kiribati for the year 2022. All these new employees will join the different divisions of the Judiciary which includes (5) new staff to the High Court, (5) to the Magistrate Division, and (5) to the Corporate Division.
As part of their induction and initiation to their important roles, a Swearing Ceremony was held in which each new employee was required to swear an Oath to the Sovereign Republic of Kiribati to uphold the Constitution and to execute their duties to the people of Kiribati with the highest of ethical standards and due diligence. They further swore an Oath of Secrecy and Preservation of confidential information and documents. The Oaths were taken before His Honour the Commissioner of the High Court, who is also the Chief Registrar.
Those in attendance includes staff of the Judiciary and HOD’s of the different divisions of the Judiciary such as the Executive Director, the Deputy Chief Registrar, the Chief Magistrate, the Principal Magistrate and the Senior Registrar (who also acted as Master of Ceremony).
